Gigi Fernandez was born in San Juan Puerto Rico on February 22, 1964. The third of four children born to Beatriz and Tuto.
Gigi started playing tennis at age 3 and after asking for lessons for her birthday began taking lessons at age 7. She quickly rose through the ranks in Puerto Rico winning every junior category. She was recruited to attend Clemson University, which she did for one year on an athletic scholarship. After reaching the finals of the NCAA singles championship as a freshman, she decided to turn pro. Gigi became the first Puerto Rican female to earn a living as a professional athlete. After an illustrious career on the WTA tour, which included 17 Grand Slam titles and 2 Olympic Gold Medals, Gigi was voted as Puerto Rican female athlete of the century. She was also the first female Puerto Rican eleceted into an international sports hall of fame after becoming a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2010.
Since retiring in 1997, Gigi has commited her life to to the pursuit of happiness. Her many interest and endevours have included an internet start-up, a real estate development company, becoming a scratch golfer, pursuing an MBA, and now becoming a youth fitness advocate.
Her proudest accomplishment however, is becoming a mom of twins Madison and Karson on April 7th 2009.

Gigi introduces "Master Doubles with Gigi" tennis Clinic. Produced by Net Results Marketing, in conjunction with Gigi, the program bring world class instruction to tennis clubs around the country.
The half day program includes a 2 hour adult clinic as well as a meet & greet and luncheon chat. The full day program also includes an afternoon clinic for juniors. The clinics focus on the lost art of doubles including volley and overhead technique as well as serve and return strategies.
